BOLTS: Holly Tree Meet Info

Holly Tree Hurricanes Meet

⚡️Wonderful, Awesome Bolt Parents -

We kicked ⚡️ Bolts last week with our meet against Poinsettia💪. The good news is we got to have our first meet at home AND with a team that was a little smaller. So it was glorious… they came, we conquered, we celebrated all within a reasonable time!👏

This week will be equally delightful but maybe in some different ways. Not to blow you away (🌀hurricanes, get it?), but Holly Tree has some exciting adventures planned for us. Including getting to use real cash money 💰 on their concessions! You guys get to hit up an ATM like it’s 2008 and Venmo doesn’t exist!

Check out this link for WHAT TO BRING & 🎉 BOLT BUDDIES!!

DATE: 🗓 Thursday, June 8 (TOMORROW)

LOCATION: Holly Tree Country Club Pool 500 Golf Club Drive Simpsonville SC 29681 (popped collars and pearls optional)

**please note our pool is off Hwy 14 on Plantation Drive beside the clubhouse. It is NOT off Bethel Road entrance of Holly Tree. Sometimes GPS will send you down Bethel Road and not off Plantation Drive off Hwy 14.

SWIMMER ARRIVAL: ⚡️ ⏰ Bolts Arrival 4:30pm Warm-ups: 4:45 - 5:15pm

VOLUNTEER CHECK IN: ✅ 5:00pm at Bolts volunteer table (unless you are a 1st half tent parent, and then be there at 4:30p please!)

MEET START: 🏊 5:30pm

RESERVED PARKING: Designated spots for Sail Reps, Referee, Computer Operators & Team Director. See... if you train for the big jobs, you get good parking. Just file that away...

PARKING (from Holly Tree): Park in parking lots beside the pool and tennis courts. Please do not park in lot closest to golf cart shack on the other side of the clubhouse as that is designated for golfers. They will club 🏌️ you. Ba Dum Ching.

SWIMMER AREA (from Holly Tree): ⛺️⚡️ Botany Woods swimmers will sit on grassy area outside the pool deck. Bring some bug spray – we’ve sprayed for 🦟mosquitoes, but you never know!

PARENTS (from Holly Tree): 🪑Parents (of both teams) must set up chairs outside fence area (no sitting on the pool deck during swim meet). However, parents are allowed on deck to watch their swimmers swim and can enter through either gate.

(Parent Tip: In these situations, you may miss your swimmer swim 😬until they are out of the water or later. If that happens, do not panic. Just high five them ✋ and say GREAT SWIM! If you also accidentally do this to another child that is not your own, that’s ok too. Just play it off. Heck, maybe you’ll get swimmer of the week for your cheerful enthusiasm or get put on a watch list. whatevs.)

PSYCH & SWIMMER SHEETS: JB Robinson in her infinite awesomeness will upload the Athlete sheet & the Psych Sheet. (She had to tell me what the latter was… it’s when you see the times for the swimmers so if you have a competitive swimmer amongst you, you can see how quickly to swim against that Holly-Tree-Hurrican’t-beat-us.)

CONCESSIONS:

  • nachos, chips, drinks, candy
  • Country Club will sell grilled food items as well - oooo la la
  • Kona Ice sno cones truck.

💵 CASH ONLY - it’s all about the Jacksons, baby (did you know Andrew Jackson was on the $20? Me neither.)

EXTRA INFO -

✍️Tattooing your swimmer, an Advanced Tutorial… As a resident Tent Parent, we love having the event and stroke written on your swimmer’s arm. Here is what I would suggest.

Check out the Event by Athlete sheet that JB so kindly uploads for you under the meet event on the website's calendar.

Find your kid’s age and name (removed joke about dad’s not knowing kid’s age in honor of Father’s Day month, you’re welcome dads)

Example:

  • #16 Free
  • #36 Breast (hee, hee)
  • #56 Back

Since we have scratches and combines during the meet, listing the heat and lane can cause a little more confusion BUT if your swimmer likes that, go for it! Just let them know it's subject to change.

In the tent, the volunteers get your kiddos by name and line them up before heading to the Clerk of Course where they do the same thing again. So we promise to have them where they go! The swimmer’s themselves just need to know their event number so when they see it on the handy dandy sign we have, they know to come to us.

You are also welcome to add if it’s a 25 or 50, but based on age, they swim the same laps for all events. Unless they swim Long Free, so you can list LONG or the 50 for that one.

🏅RIBBONS & 🍩DONUTS! It will be our first week for ribbons and donuts. It's not just a clever name; on Friday morning at 10AM all aged swimmers head to the pool shelter to get ribbons, play a couple games and have some donuts.

That’s it! (Hopefully 🤞) Make sure you are signed up for Remind in case there is something else.
